Prolong Your Summer Tan

Now that Labor Day Weekend is over (and we hope yours was great, by the way!), there aren’t many more chances to soak up the Summer sun, so you might be looking to prolong the tan you’ve built up over the summer (while you were using sunscreen of course!).

Here, from hellomagazine.com, we have a few tips that they’ve shared for ways to keep your summer color, longer.
•    Moisturize- we all know how important is to moisturize your skin year-round, but if maintaining your tan is your goal, it’s especially important.  Exposure to UV rays can dry your skin, and if you don’t give moisture back, your skin can dry out and flake off, so applying lotion twice a day is good idea.
•    Internal Miniaturization- lotions and creams that you apply to your skin are great, but they’ll work even better if you give your body moisture to work with from the inside out by drinking plenty of water and eating fruits and vegetables with high water content.
•    Go Gentle- while exfoliating is a great way to get your skin ready to tan (sun or spray), once you’ve acquired your color, you might want to give it a break.  Switch to cream body washes instead of formulas with exfoliating beads, and smooth wash cloth instead of a loofah or scrubbing brush.
•    Watch your Hair Removal- we understand that the point of having a tan is to show it off, so you’re going to have to remove the hair on your legs, but don’t over-do it.  Shaving and especially waxing pulls away skin, so getting a wax before or epilating are your best options if you’re serious about keeping your color.

So here’s to keeping your tan for as long as possible!
