DIY Tuxedo Manicure!

We’re always looking for a great new manicure you can do at home (or ask us to do)… and we love this tuxedo style that we first saw on Zooey Deschanel.  The best part is, that while the end result is gorgeous and looks complicated, once you break it down, it isn’t that hard to do (although you may need a friend to help with your dominant hand).
1.    The first step is your base coat (to protect your nails).  Then it’s time for your background- traditionally it’s white, but if you want to use a pale color, we say go for it!  You’ll probably need at least 2 or 3 coats, since you’re using a lighter color.  Once your base is opaque, add a topcoat and let dry.
2.    For the bow, a very fine eyeliner brush works best.  Begin by making a dot in the center.  This will be the intersection of your bow tie.
3.    Next, add 4 more, slightly smaller dots around the center to make an “X”, like so:
4.    Now, you simply need to connect the dots and fill in your bow.  Once it is filled in, make your center dot a little bit larger.
5.    Using your eyeliner brush, now do the tip, starting from the outer edge and carefully working your way in.
6.    Add your three buttons, finish with a topcoat, and you’re done!
