Wedding Hairstyle Options- Up

Many brides who have summer weddings choose to have their hair styled in an up-do for their big day.  Which isn’t hard to understand, given the heat and humidity…but don’t worry about feeling boxed in to 1 or 2 styles, here we have 5, and of course the internet will be happy to offer you plenty more.
Whether you’re interested in a style that’s classic, modern, elaborate or effortless, one of these looks is sure to provide you with some inspiration.
•    Add a headband- especially if you aren’t wild about having a veil, a jeweled or other ornate headband can be a great alternative.  Regardless of what style you’re adding it to, make sure your hair has some texture, especially if you’re going for a more classic style to keep from looking too old-fashioned.
•    A Braided Bun- If you love a messy bun, but want to dress it up for your wedding day, this is a great choice.  You should start off by giving your hair a lot of volume, using pin curls and a curling iron on the hair around your face.  Then, you simply put your hair in a ponytail and pull it tight.  Then, take a 1 inch section of hair from your tail and braid it.  Pin the rest of your pony into a messy bun, then wrap your braid around it and tuck it in and you’re done.  You can wear your veil on the crown, or choose to secure it just above your bun.
•    Chignon with Side Braid- a key to making this (and many other up-do styles) work is not washing your hair the day of the ceremony- doing so will make it harder for the style to stay.  This is a style that is effortless, and just a bit more special than your standard chignon.  Begin with a side part, then pull all but a 1 inch section into a ponytail.  Braid your 1 inch section, and then secure it with a clear elastic.  Use your fingers to loosen and widen the braid, then use another elastic to secure the braid with the rest of the ponytail.  Then, simply wrap your hair into a bun and secure the style with U-shaped pins.
•    Mussed-Up French Twist-  The French Twist is a great classic style, but if you’re looking for an update, try mussing it up.  Instead of starting the twist at the nape of your neck, begin it higher, which will make it looser, and less old-fashioned.  You should also embrace any flyaways to keep the look modern and less uptight.
•    A 70s Roll- If you’re interested in a vintage style that
creates plenty of interest, this roll may be the choice for you.  It’s an especially good choice if you have naturally smooth, straight hair.  Because this look requires so much rolling and pinning on the back of your head, you will definitely want a friend or professional to handle this one…
