Everyone knows that a great hairstyle and perfect makeup will only get you so far if your eyebrows aren’t looking their best. There are three common ways to shape and style your brows. Each have their own pros and cons and we’ll spell each of them out here, to help you decide which method is best for you.
Tweezing is the most common method and there are some very obvious pros. You don’t need to schedule an appointment, as you do everything at home on your own time. It is also the least expensive method, as the only price you need to incur is for a cost of good tweezers, which can last for years. It is also the most painless method, so if you’re especially sensitive to pain, it may be the best option for you. Some major downsides include the fact that you are relying on your own skill, instead of a professional, and you will have work on them more often.
Waxing is probably the most common way to shape your brows after tweezing. Many hair salons (like ours!) offer eyebrow waxing, making it very easy to make an appointment and have a professional handle your brows for you. The best thing about waxing is that after a session, aside from the most minor upkeep, your brows will be good to go for 2-6 weeks. It is also the procedure that takes the least amount of time. However, many people do find it painful, and waxes can irritate sensitive skin. Cost is also a factor that keeps some people from choosing waxing, but for many, the sense of security that comes with having a professional in charge is worth it.
Threading is the relative newcomer to American eyebrow shaping. It is actually an ancient method, long popular in Eastern and Arabian countries. For those of you who are not familiar, it entails a professional using a cotton thread to pull out several hairs at once, which creates a very neat, straight line. This is the most precise method of eyebrow styling. It is also a great option for people whose skin may be too sensitive for waxing, but appreciate the limited amount of upkeep it offers. There are some down sides to consider however. Many people find it to be more painful than either waxing or tweezing, and since it is a newer method, in some places, it can be hard to find, though there are a few places in the triangle that offer it.
A quick reminder- regardless of which method you choose, your brows will look their best if you work with your natural shape instead of against it.
